Thassos boutique hospitality residences

Τhis proposal envisions three boutique summer residences on the island of Thassos. Conceived as intimate yet refined retreats, the project balances the atmosphere of private living with the sensibility of high-end hospitality. Here, hospitality is approached not as a transient experience but as a form of permanence - an immersion in a carefully curated place where architecture, landscape, and daily life unfold at a slower Mediterranean rhythm. Each residence is accessed through its own private entrance, gently dissolving any perception of shared boundaries and establishing a sequence of independent sanctuaries. The architecture unfolds through a series of concealed Mediterranean gardens: layered compositions of lush local vegetation, framed views, and filtered sunlight beneath mature trees. Private pools are embedded within this landscape, surrounded by dense planting that enhances the sense of retreat and allows each residence to function as a self-contained world. Rather than reading as a single compound, the project is conceived as a small fragment of a village. Each building is treated as a carefully crafted object within the landscape, positioned to create moments of privacy while maintaining a subtle dialogue with the surrounding environment. Materiality draws inspiration from the island’s local resources and construction traditions. White plastered volumes, ceramic roof tiles, timber elements, and natural stone surfaces form a warm and tactile palette rooted in Mediterranean building culture. The landscape design further reinforces this identity through the use of native plants, generous tree canopies, and white gravel hardscape that reflects the intense summer light. Together, architecture and landscape compose a contemporary yet deeply local interpretation of Mediterranean habitation - one that blends luxury with the timeless character of island living.
