Residential building in Glyfada
Residential - Glyfada, Greece
Private commission, 2022
Located in Glyfada, this ground-up residential development redefines contemporary urban living through a careful balance of spatial generosity, privacy, and experiential design.
The building accommodates six residences distributed across four upper levels and the ground floor, each conceived as a distinct, high-specification dwelling rather than a conventional apartment typology. The project is structured around a hierarchy of living experiences, with particular emphasis placed on the upper residences, where scale, privacy, and exclusivity are amplified.
The third-floor apartment unfolds across 160 sqm, comprising three bedrooms - including a master suite - and is designed as a single, expansive living environment with strong visual and spatial continuity. Above, the penthouse duplex extends to 210 sqm over two levels, offering four bedrooms and culminating in a private master suite with its own swimming pool—an elevated domestic retreat that combines intimacy with panoramic openness.
Across all residences, generous exterior spaces are treated as integral extensions of the interior. Wide balconies are directly connected to the primary living areas and are equipped with outdoor kitchens and barbeques, enabling a seamless indoor–outdoor lifestyle aligned with the Mediterranean climate.
At the core of the building, a central atrium introduces a defining spatial moment: a ground-level pool that is both shared and private. Half of this water element is incorporated into the ground-floor duplex, while the remainder is accessible to all residents, establishing a layered condition of ownership and experience. This duality transforms the pool into a social and architectural focal point.
Arrival is choreographed through a double-height entrance sequence, where the presence of water is immediately revealed, creating a sense of calm and exclusivity from the outset. This spatial gesture establishes the tone of the building as a curated residential environment rather than a conventional multi-unit development.
Supporting the residences, an underground parking level accommodates eight vehicles, ensuring full coverage for residents while maintaining the clarity and openness of the ground plane.
The project ultimately positions itself as a collection of bespoke homes within a unified architectural framework - where each residence is defined by its own identity, yet contributes to a cohesive and elevated living environment.
